These pictures show that Sundanese society respect woman emancipation.
Makasih Teh, emang moment-nya pas banget pas ngambil gambarnya n' group rampak kendang ini memang lumayan professional jadi mereka bisa membuat dressing n' make up yg baik hihihi biar laku kali yaa... soalnya mereka swasta / private jadi kalo ngak ada yg order utk manggung ngak dapat duit deh hehehe :)
Hatur nuhun Teh Aisha :), atuh padahal mah jaipongannya bisa sama suami hehehe ;)... laguna aduh manis tea pan siip tah :). Caroge-nya diajarin kitu :).
My dictionary says that this means Lady wearing lots of cloths and Jewels beating drums with her hands (Rampak Kendang). It is worth pointing out that in many cultures it is the women who maintain cultural history.

Hi Gordon :), thank you for your comment :). Hehehe Yes it is interesting, the women in Sundanese Culture are very important. The most powerful God in Sundanese Tales is Sunan Ambu (Female) all Gods are bound to Her. This Rampak Kendang group (rampak = harmony, Kendang = drum) is interesting because usually played by men :).
Great action shot, I see that they are using drum sticks
Thank you :). Yes, I think they adopt it from modern drum concept. It is nice that the culture has been developed and mixed with other culture, create a new unique rampak kendang and hope could maintain the rampak kendang it self. I have motivated Sundanese people in several forum to elaborate modern music such as Jazz, R'nB, Pop, HipHop, etc in Sundanese music and hope the new Sundanese Music will be enjoyed by the young people. I think if there is no improvement or development in the traditional music the people will be bored and step-by-step they will forget it.
